Cairns Spearfishing Store — Ocean Universal

Ocean Universal in Cairns stocks a large spearfishing inventory. Makes sense — the shop was originally Spearfishing Superstore, so spearo gear hasn't gone anywhere.

In stock you'll find rail spearguns, camo wetsuits, carbon and fibreglass fins, low-volume masks, weight belts, floats, dive knives, and general spearo accessories. Gear is chosen for tropical waters — not imported cold-water gear that won't last in FNQ.

The name changed to Ocean Universal because the business had already started stocking scuba and freediving equipment over the years. But the spearo side wasn't scaled down. Spearfishing is still the backbone they do.

Staff are spearos themselves and advise on what works on the original source Great Barrier Reef spots.
